art.: The Neon Bling of Alfred Coffee {Silverlake}

Neon Bling

They say third times the charm. It was for Alfred {Coffee + Kitchen} Silverlake, one of the newest coffee shops serving specialty coffee on the Sunset Boulevard. I tried going before with my friend Toni – we love having a coffee date – and once on my own and each time it was shuttered. So, how happy I was to hear that the bagel truck, Yeastie Boys Bagels was popping up in front, next to the Claire V. shop to its left and Lark Cake Shop to the right.

Seeing the truck is always easy to notice, it’s white and has a welcomed gregarious font on it. There’s a cubby of an outdoor patio with an economy of seating that fits a few two-seaters was just enough. So sweet. It was nice to have a coffee date here, you get to be in your world, watch foot traffic go by and cars still cruise Sunset boulevard. Once, my favorite yeast bagel currently,  with strawberry cream cheese, Nutella and banana arrived I headed back to the counter to have my cortado prepared. While not on the official menu, it was easily created.

cortado, and milf, yeastie boys bagels

I like eating food, breakfast preferably with coffee together. So  while I paid for my coffee initially, having to just ask for it to be made, once my bagel was ready made for enjoying the two, Once my date came, and the bagel, I put in the order for my cortado to arrive as I often like paying for my coffee up front and then waiting for it to come with my food simultaneously. There’s something that happens with the experience of food: Nutella dripping not so politely around the crevices of your lips and following it down with a sip of a well-proportioned espresso based drink. Toni who had a cappuccino and said hers was created in welcomed measure too.
The floral motif took turns at being bold on the wall and then subtle with just a single flower looking upon us as we chatted, on the patio which gave the vibe of artist Kehinde Wiley with a side of intentional splatter.

I liked it; and the neon bling for a hotline of coffee shared by two.
