where to coffee… in Paris

Hint: Follow the bikes.

Its Paris Fashion Week! When in Paris, park your wheels and your palate in style at these five shops.

A friend of smdlr who happens to be french and an illustrator suggested this spot. Going here for one of its cookies that towers on the top glass and a Chemex for three seems like a near perfect coffee date with friends.

40 rue Chapon

Going here is an appropriate weekend delight, after an intentional morning of sleeping in, such as its proprietors do. The menu changes monthly – rightfully and seasonally so. Pop in, have a flat white and whatever you feel like in-the-now.

19 rue Lucien Sampaix

I would choose to play with American classic while in a French frame of mind. Cue a midday lunch break – one Herbivore [grilled cheese] with a filter coffee, please.

10 Rue de la Grange aux Belles

Perfect for helping the night owl become wide-eyed. I’d opt for an espressi with the choice of an assortment of macaroons and retire here after a day of Parisian life ’til just past sunset.

5 rue Villedo 75001

Serving beans from Le Coutume and opening an hour before noon, a park here would find me ordering the LSD – Latte Soy Dandelion. A shot of coffee and a flowering weeds sounds like the right choice to get my day a bloom.
