Kaldis Coffee, a coffee company and roaster in Missouri is recalling its Java Jacket disposable coffee sleeves. Due to a couple reported incidents of the black sleeve, catching fire while used in the microwave, the recall is in effect for about 700,000 units.
The sleeve is 100% recycled paperboard and is used on 12 and 16 ounce paper cups. Thanks to Kaldi’s for the recall. But does this mean consumers are reheating their to-go coffee? Its quite possible. Perhaps, that cup of coffee once cooled, is desired longer and thus, the warming of a to-go drink in an office or an at-home microwave.
Here’s one alternative to using take away cups at your regular coffee shop, bring your own mug or see if they have an alternative for to-go options. Like, the current beautiful black steel and porcelain enamel mug Kaldi’s has in their shop. I’d drink from it any day.
