one | Father John Misty played a couple of music festivals this weekend including Chicago’s Lollapalooza. In between singing and wordy banter he waxes at Lollapalooza this weekend during his hour-long set and it wasn’t about coffee, “Tea, the world’s most unhelpful beverage.” Sounds like the ‘Father’ needs a little help from our friends.
two | On Instagram, @nulooks_ posted a photo of one of New York’s iconic signs and also coffee shops asking, “Whats your favorite coffee shop?” Scrolling the answers was like a real life Reddit and this culture was into it. As of this morning, the image was no longer on the feed, however, great coffee shops – which doesn’t always mean great coffee too, mind you – do exist so weigh in and let us know yours in the comments.
three | Revolutionary, Vincent Marotta helped make ‘Mr. Coffee’ a household name after, “asking two engineers to create a drip brewing system like those found in restaurants. Marotta came up with the idea after his and Glazer’s construction and shopping center development business were hurt by a slowdown in the real estate market.” Talk about turning the proverbial lemons into lemonade. And, the famed addition of Joe DiMaggio to his advertising campaign surely help Mr. Coffee become one of the culture’s most iconic brand partnerships. Coffee culture and the homes of its drinkers owes much to Marotta, who died on August 1 at the age of 91.
