new man on the block
He’s new here.
“I am learning and forgetting,” he said.
My first reaction was sadness as I assumed there was a negative to the loss of what he intimated, forgetting all the before of him – In Spain – for the sake of all the new to come in him – IN America.
But upon some days of reflecting I finally heard him. And, the poet Rudyard Kipling,
“If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew, to serve your turn long after they are gone…you’ll be a man.”
The forgetting makes way for a shredding, a renewing, for new [hu]man muscle. What a gift, if I | WE | YOU see it that way.
To us all, I say, lets forget a lot more often, lets all be new here, shall we?
