the colors don’t pass us by
When the eye flickers it reacts to light and what it likes. Its immediate response to what would otherwise pass it by. Pass the eye these designer did not. Here’s all of what I blinked at for Friday, of NYFW.
ODAY SHAKAR
Fastened. What a time to be buttoned up, well, just a little!
Yellow flight.
TANYA TAYLOR
Let your eye’s out.
How many florals can a floral dress hold if a floral dress were a floral?Taylor answers with mosaic paints imprinted onto fabric – placed and apparent in just application. Not too much, not too little, their existence a justification for fashion imitating life: spring.
CLUB MONACO
The coats and layers at this presentation evoke a chilly spring. No complaints here. Taupe, deep navy and herringbone-esque are great hues to to be layered in. Hands in the pocket weather? I welcome it!
TADASHI SHOJI
This was a solid color romance.
This was a solid color romance. And the imagery was all the way up. Birds, branches, elephants, oh my. Lia Ice’s ‘Thousand Eye’ was part of the perfect accompaniment to Shoji’s dresses. Tassled earrings were to live for. They shimmied from ears, gracing shoulder bones being like Mother Nature in motion.
NICOLE MILLER
Little bomber, a lot of skirt.
All the ladies with embroidery and lace.
TOMMY HILFIGER
Did you see that coat, er, uh jacket? Taking a liner note from military style, this jacket in the capsule collection is a leader of the pack designed as part of Gigi Hadid’s first collection with Hilfiger.
