An image, by its nature of being an image, can already be powerful.  Yet, pair that image with another image that is text based – conscious text at that  – we’re talking about more than just an image. In fact,  what we’re talking about is an image within an image,  that for me takes over the foreground of the picture in such an unassuming way, that I can only assume that the inquiry of its existence, was welcomed by the photographer.

So, I’m curious which came first to The Sartorialist’s eye,  the image of her and with her coffee, or the image that frames the background of her with her coffee? cde
