exCerpt:. Urban Outfitters, Colin, the photographer

coffee has an interesting way of showing up in our cultural conversation. an exCerpt, of coffee and its collective appearance as a character in the every day.

Urban Outfitters: What are you obsessed with lately?” U.O.

Colin: “I bought a Pentax 67 about a year ago and it changed everything. And I got an Aeropress for making coffee, and that also changed everything.”

The very first piece of coffee equipment I bought was an Aeropress. When it came in the mail I was equally excited about as if it was a new pair of socks or something I thrifted from a weekend thrifting excursion. Given that Colin is a photographer, one might assume that some part of his work – his Pentax 67 purchase as of late – might rightfully be an obsession. But, moving beyond this, its his mention of getting an Aeropress as a catalyst that changed everything that peaks interest.  Given the intricacies of coffee and all the steps required to process it, is it no wonder that a photographer would find an affinity, yes, even an obsession with coffee.

What is more, I love that something so seemingly simple  – taking a photograph, making a cup of coffee – can be and is often life-changing. cupUp Colin. – cde
