Golden Globes

Golden Globes

8 | The Golden Globes: What’s a television show, a streaming channel, a movie without a scene around some table or passing by a coffee shop or riding in a car for coffee where the development of a character or a plot uses the aid of a coffee or just a cup? To answer, it still is all these things but to this coffee culture, it makes all these things even more profound to see its universal signature a player on the screen. Tune in to see how Coffee and the Screen will do this year, as the culture did in 2016 for the annual Golden Globes ceremony.

New York, NY | Fresh off a Brookyln-Made award and opening a summer storefront in Nolita in 2016, Cafe Grumpy opens a new store in the Financial District of New York. From small Greenpoint beginnings and cameo settings on the soon to end HBO Girls, Cafe Grumpy remains a happy force in specialty American coffee culture. Happy eighth independent opening. 20 Stone Street

imgres19-29 | Park City, Utah: In the 1998 film Meet Joe Black, a father tells his daughter that he wants her to dance like a dirvish. Well, one might be close to that feeling as Sundance comes to multiple cities in Utah to premiere a bevy of films. As people descend on snow, red carpets and movie theaters the collaborations that will involve the culture of coffee will be one development to keep an eye on. Last year, the cultural activity was a full slate worthy of attention in and this year, the lifestyle of watching films, conversating about them and keeping warm in lower temperatures will be the perfect environment to do the same. Given the proliferation of coffee shops in the borough of Brooklyn, a film named after one of its neighborhoods, Bushwick , will be an interesting to see as the plot navigates five blocks that become a war zone.

imgres20-22 | San Francisco, CA  | Good food is good coffee!  A ceremony, gala and marketplace comes to the food obsessed town of San Francisco to announce winners in the fourteen categories that make up the Good Food Awards. As the annual Good Food Awards convenes in San Francisco specialty coffee will have its moment in the Bay area sun as a brand becomes the winner among 25 finalists. Let there be coffee.

23 | NATIONAL:  Which comes first? The coffee shop or the pie. Ever a long tandem pair, this national day allows for starting the Monday of this week in January with an excuse to celebrate one of the culture’s sweetest couples. From the East to the West this culture has loved Bang Bang Pie, Four and Twenty Black Birds, The Pie Hole and which it hopes to experience Republic of Pie. Here’s to finding a coffee and pie equation to say ‘Monday, I’m in love.”
