The first month of the last quarter of the year of 2017 is here. Its off with a cultural bang with music, fashion, film and food corralling the lifestyle experiences around coffee and the culture it inhabits. Mark your calendars, set your alarms, September is lit.

2-3 Made in America Festival, PHILADELPHIA

Summer isn’t official over just because the summer months are. Nor are the outdoor festivals. Kicking off the first weekend of September is Made In America. Created and curated by Jay-Z, he headlines along with rapper J.Cole and The Chainsmokers. A cameo by his sister-n-law, Little Dragon, Sampha, Migos, Vic Mensa and more is expected on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway, the city’s cultural boulevard.  Listen to the lineup’s playlist here.

6 U.S. AeroPress Championship, SEATTLE

The AeroPress Trail presses on as the U.S. Championship takes place at the La Marzocco Café at KEXP in Seattle.  See a list of events here as competitors vie to take on the world stage in Seoul Korea in November. Press on.

7-17 Toronto International Film Festival, CANADA

The festival returns with press worthy news, one-third of the features and documentaries are women directed or co-directed. features, The Fix Luxury Retreat is where guests and celebrities can enjoy a ‘fix’ of many kinds including candy, cocktails and cold brew coffee, courtesy of Station Cold Brew.  This cultures eyes are on films Submergence High Fantasy Professor Marston & The Wonder Women, Wajib, Woman Walks Ahead to name a few. Its live baby!

 

7-13  NEW YORK FASHION WEEK, NEW YORK

The biannual Fashion Week returns to the city this second week of September with presentations and runway shows. View the official schedule through the CFDA calendar. Not only does the week of activity provide a look at what will be in-season for the upcoming season of fashion, it allows the culture to play in and around coffee shops. Fashion doesn’t run on clothes alone.

 

9-10 BREWERS CUP PRELMS + STREET FAIR, OREGON

For brewers competing in the 2017-2018 Brewers Cup circuit, a special two-day street fair presented by Portland Coffee Club, Buckman Coffee Factor and Oregon Coffee Board arrives. Pairing an outdoor event full of arts and crafts allows the coffee forward competition to have life and style curated around it for professionals and enthusiasts. Come on, brew all.

ANYTIME Soft opening at the end of August, Scrimshaw Coffee is a San Diego coffee shop run by two gents, named Will and Roger.  If you’re heading down south, along the coast of California, pay them a visit via tidbits about their name and such through their online presence as well as a menu of items in shop.

15 Brad’s Status. NATIONAL

There is tea. Probably coffee. And definitely a road to college. 16 Vendy Awards, NEW YORK

The first street food competition, The Vendy Awards holds its New York competition on  Governers’ Island. The annual event includes finalists in the categories of Best Market Vendor, Best Dessert Vendor, Rookie of the Year and an all new category, the taco truck.

The Coffee Woman arrives in Amsterdam. Presented by Vuna Origin Consulting and hosted by Bocca Coffee Roasters, TCW was created to support, encourage and inspire women. As an event driven platform [ SCA, MANE, Let’s Talk Coffee ] engaging women and supporting coffee professionals, the day of panel discussions and team competitions works to bridge and bond the gaps felt by those within the industry.
